The cost of living in the UK
In England it is generally higher than other European countries. In England and Ireland the cost is about the same, however some products such as clothes can be quite inexpensive depending where you shop. A general guideline for a weekly shopping bill for one person would be approximately 40 Euros.
Fast food, Fish & Chips or Chinese and Indian Take Aways are cheaper than Pub Meals and Restaurants. Torbay has lots of fast food and take away shops, including KFC, McDonald's, Burger King and Pizza Hut. Most English people enjoy having a roast lunch in a typical English Pub on Sundays, the cost of this is approximately 9 Euros . The pubs are particularly popular with young people who want to watch big screen televised sports.
